Pack It Large With A Powerful i4 Motor!
#3RZFE #3RZFTE #3RZFZE
Here is another awesome swap for any fitted Toyota Corolla. You can swap in a 3RZ-FE from a 1st Gen Toyota Tacoma. The 3RZ-FE was a 2.7L inline 4 DOHC motor at (2,693 cc). It was an aluminum/iron piston block motor from Toyota’s RZ power train. Production begin in 1994-2009. The 3RZ-FE had a bore and stroke 95 mm. The engine had an output of 150hp, with up to 177 ft•lb of torque at a given rpm. The 3RZ-FE had a compassion ratio of 9.5:1. Later versions had minor updates. This motor was designed to improve performance and fuel efficiency. The 3RZ-FE has several appearances and there were JDM versions of this motor.
The
aftermarket for this motor is pretty strong. A modified NA or forced inducted 3RZ-FE
can make some serious power in a Corolla. Like most build motors, the 3RZ-FE has a record with over 1000+hp.
They can be tuned to produce decent power overstock with monstrous torque. A daily tuned 3RZ-FE is good for 225PS. This is possible with a decent turbo/TRD Supercharger kit or NA build.
A 3RZ-FE Alpine Supercharger Kit
The Alpine Supercharger kit for the 3RZ-FE were made available for the 1995-2004 Toyota Tacomas. Power can be made anywhere from 182-225hp with up to 240+ lbs of torque. Other electronics and engine modifications can increase power.
Rumors have it that the supercharger can be rebuilt to produce more power. Based on the year of engine, the supercharger is completely bolt-on. Like other TRD supercharger kits, parts can be customed fitted. Minor customization is needed for this swap.

A 2AZ-FE With vvti
Another
perfect engine swap for any fitted Corolla would be a fresh 2007+ 2AZ-FE from a 2nd Gen Corolla XRS or 1st Gen Scion TC. The
2AZ-FE was a 2.4L all-aluminum block piston motor from Toyota’s AZ power train.
The engine was produced from 2000-2018. The engine was an undersquared economy DOHC i4
motor. The bore of a 2AZ-FE was 88.5mm and had a stroke of 96.0mm. The 2AZ-FE had a compassion ratio of 9.6:1. Later versions of the
engine featured various updates, including Dual vvti, and higher compassion
ratios. The output of the newer 2AZ-FE engines were anywhere between 158-177hp,
with up 164+ft•lb of torque at different rpm settings. The engine was also
design to improve performance and mostly fuel efficiency. There were JDM versions of
this motor with different fitted appearances.
A Costumed 2AZ-FE Turbo Kit For The Gen 2 MR2
Aftermarket
for the 2AZ-FE is plentiful for force induction and NA applications. Many car enthusiasts have used the 2AZ-FE motor in many racing applications. In stock form the 2AZ-FE has enough power with bags of torque. With a perfect tune a 2AZ-FE can make up to 270PS with the stock bottom end. The motor can
be rebuilt to handle more. That's a lot of power for a tiny car like the Toyota Corolla.
A 2AZ-FE TRD Supercharger
There are
many blot on turbo kits or supercharger kits for the 2AZ-FE. The 2AZ-FE had a
TRD Supercharger Kit option for the first Gen Scion TC and XB. Power can be made
anywhere from 200-240hp with up to 185+lbs of torque.
Other
electronics/engine mods can increase power. Rumors have
it that a TRD 2AZ-FE Supercharger can be rebuilt to produce more power.
The TRD
2AZ-FE Supercharger is completely blot on. Other parts can be refitted for
other cars with the official Scion TC or XB motor. All
the proper equipment is needed for a successful swap.
A TRD Supercharged 2AZ-FE Scion Tc is able to
pull high 14s in a quarter of a mile. Imagine how low those numbers will go in
a Corolla. With some power, they can pull some serious impressive times
in a quarter of a mile.
#2ARFE #2ARFTE #2ARFZE
With Frankensteinmotorwork's mods, the 2AR-FE can be seen with 240+whp. A customed/tuned turbo, Eaton, or Rotrex 2AR-FE can be seen with up to 280PS. The motor can be rebuilt to handle big power. The 2AR-FE is known to make well over 1000+hp in a modified Scion Tc.
#2ARFXE
A 2AR-FXE
A 2AR-FXE is another possible swap for any fitted vehicle. A 2AR-FXE engine can be found in a 7th Gen Toyota Camry. The 2AR-FXE was a 2.5L all aluminum block piston motor from Toyota’s AR power train. This motor was produced in 2008. The 2AR-FXE was an i4 hybrid economic undersquared motor. The engine shared many features with the 2AR-FE. The 2AR-FXE had more updates and NA tuning potential due to the higher compassion ratio. The bore of the 2AR-FE was 90 mm and had a stroke of 98mm. The engine had an output of 154hp with up 153ft•lb of torque at different rpm settings. The 2AR-FXE had a compassion ratio of 12.5:1. The 2AR-FXE was also designed to improve fuel efficiency. There were JDM versions of this motor with different appearances.
These motors are not a direct fit or a true drop. The electronics/ECU are different. All the proper equipment from the donated car including a suitable or modified transmission is needed for a successful swap. These swaps requires a lot of customization including customed motor mounts, suspension, custumed high proformance axles, shifter, fuel system, cooling system, A/C/power steering, intake/exhaust, suspension/brakes, and tires.
Every motor and transmission has a weakness. It is very important to address your motor and transmission for weaknesses before modifying them. Turbo or supercharged applications may require upgraded injectors, upgraded ECU, a blot on or customed built manfold, fuel pump, and boost controller. Rotrex Superchargers and customed built parts can be via importperformanceparts, greddy, car-part, driveshaftshop, gatorracingaxles, frankensteinmotorworks, r9ktune, fastscions, turbokits, ptuning, or maxpeedrods. Prices can always be compared for your likings.
