Top The Toyota Corolla GR With A Successor!

Toyota Corolla GR

Toyota is looking to pull back their oldschool and newschool car enthusiast world. The humbled and fitted Toyota Corolla can be a perfect candidate for such a crowd.  A sports car build requires a lot of time, effort, and money.  With such great builds comes greater maintenance. Builds to accommodate power such as transmissions, axles, frame, and suspension are in serious need of attention.

Here are some modern GR killing options blow.

Option 1:

2AZ-FE

A 2AZ-FE Motor

The best modern engine to work with would be a 2007+ 2AZ-FE out of a Scion TC, XB, or a Toyota Corolla XRS. This motor has alot of potential. The 2AZ-FE can handle up to 240PS on the stock internals and even more once built. An aftermarket forged/piston set is very much recommended for a solid/reliable engine between 240-270PS MAX, on the stock bottom end. The 2AZ-FE TRD Supercharger will benefit with a Scion Tc or XB motor.

Customed turbo kits.com/Rotrex forced induction kits and NA mods are up for grabs with a Google search click away.

Option 2:

2ZZ-GE

A 2ZZ-GE Motor

The 2ZZ-GE is an older bug and has had a shorter lifespan in production. You may need an older Corolla model for this one. You best bet is to get a 2ZZ-GE from MonkeyWrenchRacing (MWR). Swap and bump power up to 180PS. Install quality mods and get between 220-250PS. You can blot the
MonkeyWrenchRacing (MWR) supercharger and get up to 240PS

Want more power? Blot the
MonkeyWrenchRacing (MWR) supercharger with mods and tune.. Install a low compression piston kit along with a customed turbo kit.com or Rotrex supercharger kit. Score up to 280PS on the stock bottom end.

Option 3:

1ZZ-FE

A 1ZZ-FE Motor

The 1ZZ-FE is the older variant to the newer 2ZR-FE. The 1ZZ-FE potential sits next to the popular 4A Series. Get a 2003+ 1ZZ-FE with vvti and score 170PS with its TRD Supercharger. Add supported MWR parts to increase power. If its NA or forced induction, the motor with handle up to 190PS on the stock internals.

Want more power? Buy a 1ZZ-FE short block and transmission mods from MonkeyWrenchRacing (MWR). Get a 200NA or a cheaper 280HP forced induction build. Go all out with a customed turbo kit.com or Rotrex kit.

Option 4:

2ZR-FE

A 2ZR-FE Motor

Go with the 2ZR-FE. Blot a customed forced feed forced inducted kit onto the motor for a modest increase of 190PS on the stock internals. Get a short block from MonkeyWrenchRacing and build a 280PS monster. Go with a customed turbo kit.com or Rotrex kit.

Option 5:

2AR-FE

A 2AR-FE Motor

Go with the alternative to the G16E-GTS/2AZ-FE/2GR-FE, the 180PS 2AR-FE.  Blot on a customed fitted turbo kit.com or Rotrex forced induction kit. Score 280PS on the stock internals. Go the other route with a 240+whp Frankensteinmotorworks NA build. A good tune will always give best results and this motor will be happy to handle it.

Option 6:

1NZ-FE

A 1NZ-FE Motor

If you want a punch, you can't go wrong with the tiny 1NZ-FE. Blot a customed turbo kit onto the engine and score up to 145PS on the stock internals. Thats near the 150PS mark and near the 160PS mark on a sporty heavier competitor. That plenty of play power for a lighter chassis. Greddy, Rotrex, or even a Blitz Supercharger kits are out for grabs.

What more power? Go with RZcrew on a 200PS 1NZ-FE build. Other quality parts can be found on Maxspeedrods. With the right transmission, score 280PS on the stock block. Thats alot of fighting power in a lighter chassis.

Option 7:

1MZ-FE

A 1MZ-FE Motor

Pop your hood with the oldschool Camry's 1MZ-FE. The pre vvti versions of the 1MZ-FE utilizes the TRD supercharger at 240PS. A customed built Eaton MP62 or MP90 supercharger can be used for the non vvti or late vvti 1MZ-FE. Simple customed blot-ons, tune, and tinkers can free up power to 255PS. While going pass 255PS, we recommend a forged piston kit on the stock internals. Go with a customed turbokit at turbokit.com or rotrex for a nice 270PS grab

Option 8:

3MZ-FE

A 3MZ-FE Motor

Go with the big block 3MZ-FE. Get up to 260PS with regular mods builds such as ecu tuning, cams, high compression pistons, cold intake, and head porting.  Go the TRD route with a customed fitted TRD 1MZ-FE or customed M90 supercharger. Go Rotrex and score up to 270PS.

Option 9:

2GR

2GR-FE Motor

Go v6 with the JZ Series successor. The 2GR-FE/2GR-FKS, can be found out of a recent Toyota Camry. The motor comes with 268PS(2GR-FE) and 301PS (2GR-FKS). These versions of the v6 are powerful preformers and will leave you with a serious smile. Shop at sites such as MonkeyWrenchRacing (MWR) or Frankensteinmotorworks, for blot-ons. You can also rank up to 400PS with a customed turbo kit at turbokit.com, a Lotus root supercharger from MonkeyWrenchRacing (MWR), or a Rotrex supercharger.

Option 10:

M20A-FKS

A M20A-FKS Motor

Rise up with the latest M20A-FKS out of a recent Corolla. The motor comes stock with 168HP. A few blots on and a tune can net you up to 200+NA along with the manual transmission. The motor can also be rebuilt to handle a rotrex or turbocharger.

When it comes to friendly emissions and rules/regulations. These motors takes the cake.  You will either make more power with with a legal TRD supercharged variant, an emissions friendly force induction kit, motor swap, or NA build. Every motor or transmission has a weakness. It is very important to address theses issues for weaknesses before modifying them.

Of course these swaps requires a lot of customization including customed motor mounts, suspension, custumed high proformance axles, and tires. Turbo or supercharged applications may require upgraded injectors, upgraded ECU, a blot on or customed built manfold, fuel pump, and boost controller.
