Toyota Corolla Power Pride

Welcome To The Site! Get Your Toyota Corolla Pride On!

A Drag Racing Customed E210 Hatchback

FACT ONE, Toyota Corollas have their pros in the streets. There are many Corolla enthusiasts with the same goal in mind. They all want a powerful Toyota Corolla. A modified Toyota Corolla with 300hp; weighing in around 2200-2900lb, can be a high 13 to a high 12 second car.

To make reliable power, you will need to have a healthy motor. You can either turbo, supercharge, NA build, swap in a 2GR-FE, K24A2, SR20DET, or even an LS4. Next, big power Corollas have to be modified from the inside and out. Even with a small 50PS bump; tires, weight reduction, brakes, suspension, axles, frame, transmission, tune, all have to be addressed. 165-300PS is best fitted for any FWD/RWD/4WD or even AWD converted Corolla.

Is There Power In Toyota Corollas?

  • Regular Toyota Corollas aren't exactly powerhouses.. They are economy gas savers that will get you from point A to point B with reliability..

How Much Power Can I Put In My Corolla?

  • Corollas can typically handle anywhere between 150hp-190hp.. This is done with supporting mods.. Any more power and your car will become a project car..

Why Keep Power At 150-190HP?

  • More power, equals more mods to handle the extra power. Most Toyota Corolla engines are designed for economical purposes.
Motor And MODS?
  • Every motor and transmission has a weakness. It is very important to address your motor and transmission for weaknesses before modifying them.

V8 Swapped Toyota Corolla

Swap A V8 Into Your Toyota Corolla! Build a Super Car!

A 1UZ-FE swap was done to a previous FWD 6th Gen Toyota Celica. This Celica also had a RWD conversion. The car also went through several power added setups. The set up  included a supercharged or twin-turbo conversion. This particular Celica was also known as the Toyota Celica GT8. This particular V8 setup could be a possible candidate with a Toyota Corolla or a Chevy Prizm.

A 1UZ-FE With vvti

The perfect engine swap for any fitted Corolla would be a 1UZ-FE. This motor can be found in the Lexus 1991-2000 SC400. The 1UZ-FE was a 4.0(3,969cc) all-alloy piston motor from Toyota’s UZ power train. The engine was a v8 with an oversquare by design and was a DOHC motor. The bore of the motor was 87.5 mm and had a stroke of 82.5 mm. The 1UZ-FE output was between 290-300hp, with up to 310 ft•lb of torque at a given rpm. The 1UZ-FE had a compassion ratio of 10.5:1. Later versions of the motor featured newer updates including vvti. The 1UZ-FE was designed to improve performance and fuel efficiency. The UZ Series were a series of v8 motors with many having racing roots. Many versions of the 1UZ-FE motor came with different appearances including JDM versions. Later versions had vvti with mpg ratings similar to a 2GR-FE V6.

One of the many pros about this motor is the weight. For such a large motor, the 1UZ-FE is only 20kgs heavier than the average 4A-GE.

LS4
#LS4

An LS4 Motor

Drop in a LS4 into your fitted Toyota Corolla. The LS4 can be found in the 2006-2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS, 2005-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP, and 2008 Buick LaCrosse Super. The LS4 was an OHV oversquared 5.3(5,328) all-aluminum block piston motor. The motor came from General Motor's very own Generation IV v8 power train. The bore of this engine was 96mm with a stroke of 92mm. The LS4 had an output of 300-303hp with torque up to 323ft•lbs at a given rpm. The motor had a compassion ratio of 10.0:1. The LS4 featured a FWD format and was designed to improve fuel efficiency/preformance. The engine was produced from 2005-2009. The LS4 received many updates as it came with several fitted designs.

A v8 swap is a sick mod to do to your car. A 1UZ-FE or LS4 will not directly drop in. Everything is different and the swap is not easy. All the proper equipment from the donated car including a suitable or modified transmission is needed for a successful swap. These swaps requires a lot of customization including customed motor mounts, suspension, custumed high proformance axles, shifter, electronics/ECU, fuel system, cooling system, A/C/power steering, intake/exhaust, suspension/brakes, and tires. The 1UZ-FE may include a chassis conversion. An LS4 swaped was done to a Gen 2/3 MR2.

A 1UZ-FE With Transmission

There are plenty of aftermarket parts for these motors.  Parts can be rebuilt or customed to produce more power overstock. Accessible needed parts for NA builds or force induction can be found. Tuned motors are good for 380PS overstock. Modified forged versions of these motors are known to make monstrous power. Every motor and transmission has a weakness. It is very important to address your motor and transmission for weaknesses before modifying them.

There are customed fitted or blot parts for these motors at turbokits, driveshaftshop, gatorracingaxles, ptuning, importperformanceparts, ls4store, car-part, turbokits, or maxpeedrods. Rotrex and Eaton has a series of superchargers that will work on those motors. Customization is needed for fitment.
